Are You Suitable For A FUE Hair Transplant?
Hair transplants are a popular option for both men and women in Toronto who want to conceal their pattern baldness, but what makes a good candidate for a FUE transplant?
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) involves removing individual healthy hairs from the scalp and implanting them into the balding areas of the head. Offering natural-looking results and promising less downtime and less pain than that offered by older hair transplant procedures, a FUE hair transplant is a great solution for restoring a healthy hairline. However, there are a few things to consider before opting for this procedure.
Firstly, in order for a surgeon to be able to remove individual follicles and implant them elsewhere on the head, you need to have a sufficient amount of donor hair. This supply of donor hair needs to be adequate enough to cover both current and future areas of hair loss. Low hair density may mean that a FUE transplant is not the best option for you.
Another important thing to bear in mind is your age. Men and women in their early or mid-20s may continue to lose hair as they age. Once healthy hair is implanted into balding areas of the scalp, it is unlikely to ever fall out. However, hair loss may well continue and you could end up with an unnatural appearance as you lose more hair. Therefore, it is crucial to assess the long-term stability of the healthy hairs on the scalp in order to determine future hair loss patterns.
